The Oxford English Dictionary defines the American dream as:
“The ideal that every citizen of the United
States should have an equal opportunity to achieve success and prosperity
through hard work, determination, and initiative.”
For my entire life I saw those around me work very hard, and
from that hard work make a moderate amount of success for themselves and the
family. From my grandfather who owned a bar hotel in northern Wisconsin when I
was young, to my parents who owned and ran a siding company for many years. I
to have at times made the run at having my own business co-owning a mobile DJ
business for many years. But what a personally saw and experienced was that do
to life and circumstances those never unlocked what I now dreamed would be the
American dream.
I have working over 50
different jobs over the years, and at 50 years old have earned several
educational degrees. I currently work as a mental health counselor in a private
agency. But its just not enough. I like what I do, and I feel I’m very good at
it, but it is just not enough, and I feel I have not achieved success for
myself yet.
So, with all that said its
time to set a new goal and a personal life challenge, I want to achieve success
and prosperity and I plan to do so through hard work, determination, and
initiative, along with some out of the box thinking. To work smarter and meet
my goal of leaving my full-time job and becoming my own full-time boss out in
the world, and in time build an empire.
The world found out that time
is a precious commodity during the past years. The issues COVID-19 caused
many to feel they lost 3 years from an already brief lifetime to explore and
experience the world, its people, and the wonders it has to offer. No longer
are people going to wait and work a lifetime to possibly get a few brief years
in retirement. To travel only if their health is good enough and they have
saved enough money. No longer are people willing to sacrifice 25 to 30 years
for a job or company to earn 1 to 2 weeks of vacation time per year only to
endure the possible shaming and guilt from employers and co-workers that you
were selfish for leaving them to pick up the slack while you took that time for
yourself, your family and friends.
After 16 years working with
people at their most fragile moments as a counselor, I have found that a common
thread always becomes a talking point. The idea of self-care through travel
great and small. From weekends camping or hiking to grand adventures on the
high seas or some exotic far away land. Each person needs to find what it is
they want to do or see to balance out all they do day to day in the grind. They
need to discovery and accept "The jobs we work should be to support
the life we want to live, not become our life and identify".
With that all said, we plan
to go for the brass ring and seek out the American Dream, to build a business
that helps people achieve and cross things off their bucket list's and truly
have Dream Vacations. For use to get to that place where we have seen a handful
of others, who we admire, who work in the Travel Planning industry and who are
out experiencing the world, sharing their adventures through blog posts, video,
podcasts and live and virtual meet ups.
We will join this group and
become what we have for so long dreamed to achieve, our interpretation of the
American Dream. Where our office is a faraway exotic land that changes from
week to week, our views are mountains, waterfalls, rivers, and oceans, and
those in our office are the amazing people of the world.
We invite you to join us as we document our journey through blog
posts and video updates. We ask you to consider coming along with us to share
in the adventures and become our friends while creating some amazing Bucket
List Travel Memories. We ask all who follow to provide us feedback and ideas so
we can grow and learn, to help us discover new places to go and things you want
to see and experience through and with us.
Join us on our Bucket List Travel Adventures
and experience our Bucket List Life!
